We offer customized training, incentives, and many more workforce development assets. To make sure Murray/Calloway County is giving the area workforce the best tools and resources, we partner with experts including Murray State University, West Kentucky Community & Technical College, and our very own Area Technology Center.

Customized Training

Having great employees is only part of your challenge. The Kentucky Skills Network helps you provide training opportunities to advance your employees on their career path through customized training programs designed specifically for your company needs.

The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) is the Kentucky Skills Network’s primary provider of workforce education, delivering programs and services that address the needs of both businesses and workers. Our statewide system of colleges provides anytime, anyplace customized training and support services for business and industry.

Training Incentives

The Kentucky Skills Network offers a variety of flexible funding options to help companies make skills training more affordable.

Grant-in-Aid

The Grant-in-Aid program provides funding for worker training at Kentucky’s new and expanding companies and for skills and occupational upgrade training for workers of Kentucky’s existing companies. Qualified companies include manufacturers, service and technology companies, public hospitals, and training consortia.

KCTCS-TRAINS

Through KCTCS-TRAINS, companies receive funding to assist with the cost of KCTCS provided workforce training and assessment services to current, as well as, potential employees.

On-the-Job Training Grants

For businesses that hire unemployed and underemployed individuals, an OJT grant can provide a portioned reimbursement of employee’s wages during the initial onboarding period.

Skills Training Investment Credit

The Skills Training Investment Credit program offers state tax credits for approved training programs for existing employees of companies within the manufacturing; agricultural processing, telecommunications, R&D, health care, mining, tourism, tool & die, machine technology, and transportation sectors.

Work Opportunity Tax Credit

The Work Opportunity Tax Credit is a Federal tax credit available to employers for hiring veterans and other targeted populations who often face barriers to employment. The amount of the tax credit ranges from $1,200 to $9,600 per individual hired.
